Legal Aid of East Tennessee is seeking a full-time staff attorney to work in each of its offices in Chattanooga, Johnson City and Knoxville. The position in Chattanooga will focus on general litigation, with a special emphasis on housing. Candidates for the Johnson City office must have three to five years of experience in general litigation. A focus on family law and debtor/creditor law is preferred. Candidates for the Knoxville position, which will focus on housing and consumer law, must have a minimum of three years of experience. The Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference is seeking applicants for the position of executive director, which is being made available due to the retirement of Jerry Estes. The new executive director will be selected by Tennessee’s 31 elected District Attorneys General for a term of four years, beginning July 1. The U.S. Trustee Program is seeking to hire an Assistant U.S. Trustee to lead and manage its field office in Nashville. The office litigates cases filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. The U.S. Trustee Program was established by Congress more than 30 years ago to act as the “watchdog” of the bankruptcy system. The deadline for applying for the position has been extended to March 30. Those who previously applied do not have to resubmit their applications. Disability Rights Tennessee has made revisions to its job opening for legal director and extended the deadline to apply. The legal director leads a team of attorneys dedicated to protecting the rights of persons with disabilities. Applicants should have an active Tennessee law license and a minimum of five years of experience handling litigation, including multiparty and class litigation, preferably related to disability or other civil right. The Trial Court Vacancy Commission is accepting applications for a circuit court judge in the 16th Judicial District, which covers Rutherford and Cannon Counties. The vacancy will be created with the retirement of Judge Royce Taylor on March 3, 2020. Applications should be submitted by noon CST on Jan. 7. The commission will hold a public hearing on Jan. 29 at 9 a.m. CST at the Historic Rutherford County Courthouse in Murfreesboro to consider the applicants.
