MALS Seeking Chief Advocacy Officer, Staff Attorney Positions

Memphis Area Legal Services Inc. (MALS) is seeking to fill two positions. One is a staff attorney for its Fair Housing Unit; a HUD-approved housing counseling agency offering a variety of services, including mortgage delinquency and default/loss mitigation as well as fair lending issues. The other is a chief advocacy officer to design, strategically grow and direct MALS’ litigation and advocacy programs to effectively address the issues of people and communities living in poverty. BPR Seeking Disciplinary Counsel

The Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility is seeking an attorney for the position of Disciplinary Counsel - Litigation Section, Appeals. The duties and responsibilities include: investigate and conduct discovery related to complaints of attorney misconduct; prepare pleadings and appear in disciplinary hearings before hearing panels; represent the board in appellate proceedings before special judges in trial courts and before the Tennessee Supreme Court; prepare and present continuing legal education; and other duties as assigned. Applicants must be licensed in Tennessee and have a minimum of seven years experience in the practice of law and practice before the Tennessee Supreme Court is preferred. The Trial Court Vacancy Commission is accepting applications for a Circuit Court judge in the 22nd Judicial District, which covers Giles, Lawrence, Maury and Wayne Counties. This vacancy was created by the upcoming retirement of the Hon. Robert L. Jones, who will end his service effective Oct. 31.
