The Trial Court Vacancy Commission is accepting applications for the 30th judicial district criminal court vacancy, created when Judge James C. Beasley, Jr. announced he will retire. Applicants must be a licensed attorney who is at least 30 years of age, a resident of the state for five years, and a resident of the 30th judicial district. Interested applicants should submit completed applications to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon on Oct. 16. The commission will interview qualified applicants in Memphis on Nov. 6. The meeting will include a public hearing, during which members of the public may express any objections to an applicant.

The Trial Court Vacancy Commission is accepting applications for the Circuit Court judge vacancy in the 17th Judicial District, representing Bedford, Lincoln, Marshall and Moore Counties. The vacancy was created when the Hon. Lee Russell announced his retirement. Interested applicants must complete the designated application and submit it to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon CDT on Sept. 6.  The commission will interview qualified applicants in Fayetteville on Sept. 29.

The 16th District Circuit Court vacancy was created by the death of the Hon. M. Applicants must be licensed attorneys who are at least 30 years of age, a resident of the state for five years, and a resident of the district. Applications must be submitted to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon CDT on Aug. 3. The Trial Court Vacancy Commission will interview all qualified applicants in Chattanooga on Aug. 30.

Circuit Court Judge Ben W. Hooper II has informed the governor that he will retire effective Aug. 31, and therefore the Trial Court Vacancy Commission is accepting applications to fill the opening in the 4th Judicial District – Cocke, Grainger, Jefferson and Sevier Counties. Applicants must be residents of the district who are licensed attorneys, 30 years of age or older and residents of the state for five or more years. Applications are due by noon on Aug. 1.
