U.S. senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty are accepting applications from candidates interested in an appointment as U.S. district judge for the Western District of Tennessee or U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Questionnaires and additional information are available online from both senators. Interested candidates must submit a completed questionnaire and resume to appointments@blackburn.senate.gov and appointments@hagerty.senate.gov by June 9. Questions regarding the application process may be directed to the same email addresses.

The governor’s office is accepting applications to fill the post of 10th Judicial District attorney general until the next biennial election in August 2024. The position will be vacant as of July 16 following the resignation of current district attorney Stephen D. Crump, who earlier announced he would be filling the executive director position for the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference. Candidates must have resided in the state for five years and in the judicial district for one year. The district includes Bradley, McMinn, Monroe and Polk counties. U.S. District Court Chief Judge Waverly D. Crenshaw Jr. of the Middle District of Tennessee is seeking a temporary full-time judicial assistant to work from approximately April 10 to May 26 in Nashville. The American Bar Association (ABA) announced today that it has begun a nationwide search for a new executive director. The ABA executive director oversees a staff of more than 1,000 and a consolidated budget of approximately $220 million. The executive director is responsible for membership and non-dues revenues programs, directs implementation of the ABA’s strategic goals and has responsibility for programs and activities adopted by the ABA’s governing and policymaking bodies, the Board of Governors and the House of Delegates. The ABA Executive Director Search Committee is seeking candidates with at least 10 to 15 years of relevant executive leadership experience and a successful track record of effective organizational leadership for a large, complex organization. An advanced degree (J.D., MBA or other relevant degree) is preferred. The ABA is headquartered in Chicago, with another office in Washington, D.C., and significant operations in Texas and California.

This role will advise clients relative to state parks and natural areas (including hospitality operations and law enforcement), procurement of goods and services, administration of grant programs and land transactions that support TDEC’s mission. The Trial Court Vacancy Commission is now accepting applications for a chancellor in the 7th Judicial District, which covers Anderson County. The vacancy was created by the resignation of the Judge M. Nichole Cantrell, effective Jan. 31. Applicants must be at least 30 years of age, have resided in the state for five years and be residents of the 7th Judicial District. Those interested should submit the Trial Court Vacancy Commission application to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon CST on Feb. 6. The commission will interview applicants during a public hearing on Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. EST at the Anderson County Courthouse, 100 N. Main St., Clinton.
