This Saturday at 9 a.m., Metro Nashville Public Schools, the criminal court clerk and the public defender's office will host a forum titled “Bringing Justice to You” at Pearl Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School, 904 26th Ave. North. Legal Aid of East Tennessee will host an “Open Door” Intake this Friday at 1:30 p.m. for citizens to receive free legal counsel. A free legal clinic will take place tomorrow and every Thursday at Greenhouse Ministries during Celebrate Pro Bono Month, hosted by the Rutherford-Cannon County Bar Association. The Clinic is open to all members of the public regarding as many legal areas as the lawyers present have the expertise to share. The event is located at 309 South Spring St, Murfreesboro from 4-6 p.m. Contact Andrae Crismon for details.

Much like lawyers in Tennessee, attorneys across the country are honoring their responsibility to the legal profession and local communities by participating in annual pro bono celebrations. Nationally, the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service is sponsoring National Pro Bono Celebration, Oct.21-27,  as part of Celebrate Pro Bono Month.

The Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee & the Cumberlands will host two legal clinics on Wednesday as part of Celebrate Pro Bono Month. First, the Nashville Pro Bono Program partners with lawyers from Walker, Tipps & Malone to provide counsel and referral to low-income individuals at the Martha O'Bryan Center Legal Clinic. The event is from 9 a.m. until noon at the Martha O'Bryan Center, 711 South 7th St., Nashville 37206. Then, from 10 a.m. to noon, the Nashville Pro Bono Program, Vanderbilt Legal Aid Society and lawyers from Bass Berry & Sims will partner in the Landlord/Tenant Project, meeting with low-income clients to provide help in landlord/tenant disputes. The event, which requires an appointment, is at the Legal Aid Society, 300 Deaderick St., Nashville. For information on either event, contact Lucinda Smith at lsmith@las.org  or (615) 780-7127.

As part of Celebrate Pro Bono Month, the Memphis Bar Association and Memphis Area Legal Services are hosting a monthly legal clinic this Saturday at Ben Hooks Central Library, 3030 Poplar Ave. The event will last from 10 a.m to noon. Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) will host two free legal clinics on Saturday -- one in Chattanooga and one in Knoxville. The Chattanooga clinic will be at Hope for the Inner City, 1800 Roanoke Ave. Those interested in more information should contact Charlie McDaniel. Four legal clinics will take place on Tuesday as part of Celebrate Pro Bono Month.

• West Tennessee Legal Services will host a Mortgage Rescue Clinic at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, 197 Auditorium St., Jackson 38301, from 3 to 6 p.m. For more information, contact Kathryn Tucker.

• The Homeless Experience Legal Protection (“HELP”) clinic will be in Memphis at the Hospitality Hub, 146 Jefferson Ave., Memphis, from 1 to 3 p.m., also on Tuesday. The goal of the clinic is to provide legal advice and help that would ultimately get people off the street or to provide a solution to a problem that possibly led them to homelessness. The clinic is co sponsored by Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC and the TBA Young Young Lawyers Division. To help, contact Joann Coston-Holloway.

• Legal Aid of East Tennessee will host an Open Door Intake in Madisonville, beginning at 9:30 a.m. For details, contact Charlie McDonald.

• And the Nashville Pro Bono Program and Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC will staff the Second Tuesday Walk-in Clinic at the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, 300 Deaderick St., Nashville.
