Goodlettsville attorney Jesse Walker has announced his candidacy for the local city commission. He is currently in-house counsel for Roadie, a UPS company, working in the gig logistics space. Walker graduated from Nashville School of Law and became an attorney in Tennessee in 2019. He also earned degrees from Belmont University and Volunteer State Community College. A Sumner County native, Walker says he sees opportunity in Goodlettsville for a more prosperous small business community, smarter city growth and planning, and improved city services and programs. Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) is seeking two staff attorneys to work on housing and eviction cases. The lawyers could work out of LAET’s office in Chattanooga, Johnson City or Knoxville. The first position is for an attorney with one to two years of experience. The second position is for an attorney with five to seven years of experience. Both positions are funded by a grant for two years. Work beyond the two years is contingent on renewal of the grant.

The Institute for Well-Being in Law offers a podcast designed to introduce “cool people doing awesome work in the well-being space.” The Path to Well-Being in Law podcast is hosted by Chris Newbold and Bree Buchanan, who served as co-chairs of the National Task Force of Lawyer Well-Being. The task force brought national attention to issues of attorney well-being with its 2006 report “The Path to Lawyer Well-Being Practical Recommendations for Positive Change.” Guests include well-being pioneers from all sectors of the legal space, including legal employers, judges, law schools, regulators, bar associations, lawyer assistance programs and wellness thought-leaders.

The University of Memphis Law Review is seeking papers and presenters for its Spring 2023 Symposium "(How Much) Should We Pay Them? The Shifting Legal Landscape of Collegiate Competition." The Tennessee Court of Workers' Compensation Claims reports there will be no settlement approvals at any of its offices next week from Monday to Wednesday. Judges will be attending the Bureau of Workers' Compensation’s education conference during those days. Attorneys are reminded to check the hours and procedures for settlements before scheduling.
