2019 Competition
Save the date for the 2019 Tennessee State High School Mock Trial Competition March 22-23, 2019, in Nashville. The winning team will represent Tennessee at the 2019 National Competition in Athens, Georgia, on May 16-18, 2019.

District Qualifiers  If your team has won the District competition and is going to compete at the TN State Mock Trial Competition, please visit this site for more information and team forms. 

National Competition   Tennessee’s state mock trial champion is eligible to participate in the National High School Mock Trial Championship, which is held each May. Mock Trial Resources

The following organizations provide resources for mock trial preparation and competition. Commercial products and alternative competitions are not endorsed by the Tennessee Bar Association and are included only to make participants aware of their availability without any recommendation as to the value of the service or the necessity or advisability of using them to prepare for the Tennessee State High School Mock Trial Competition.

ABA Mock Trial Resources
Offers a range of sample mock trial cases for use with elementary and middle school students.

ABA Guide to Hosting a Mock Trial Competition
Offers information on how to host a successful mock trial, including information on the types of mock trials, tips on preparing and conducting the trial and guidelines for competitions.

Brandeis University Mock Trial Boot Camp
Offers an opportunity to work with lawyers and judges to improve mock trial skills and gain a deeper appreciation of the trial process. Program highlights include visits to top Boston-area law firms, one-on-one trial prep with area lawyers, and a final trial where students put their skills to the test. The 2015 program will be held July 19-25.

Class Brain Mock Trial Resources

Offers mock trial guides, sample cases and lesson plans for incorporating mock trials into classroom work.

Empire Mock Trial

Hosts three high school mock trial programs -- in Atlanta, New York City and San Francisco -- to help students hone their trial skills. Connect with the group on Facebook; follow news on Twitter; or check out photos from past competitions on Instagram.

Harvard Mock Trial Training

Offers students a series of interactive lectures, breakout sessions where teams work with a member of Harvard Mock Trial to develop a case, write questions and statements, and prepare for a scrimmage at the end of the program. Visit the group's website or connect on Facebook.

Providence Foundation: Academy of Law and Leadership

Offers a summer program that teaches students presentation skills, critical thinking, and trial process at the University of Denver.

Providence Foundation: The Providence Cup

Sponsors a two-day mock trial tournament in Denver, Colorado, for high school teams.

Rhodes Mock Trial

Rhodes Mock Trial is one of the nation’s most successful college programs with 8 championship final rounds and 32 consecutive appearances at the national championship tournament.  Three years ago we began holding the Mock Trial Academy for high school students.  It is a one week residential program on our campus in Memphis.  Students will get the opportunity to learn valuable trial skills and legal theory.  More information about the Academy and the application can be found on our site.  We would love to have you share this opportunity with Tennessee high school mockers.

Provides sample mock trial cases and lesson plans for teachers of 8-12th grade students.

UCLA Mock Trial Institute

Offers a week-long program for mock trial students to expand their knowledge base, explore college and career options, boost self-confidence and hone powers of persuasion.

Yale Mock Trial Association Bulldog Invitational

Hosts an annual mock trial competition and workshops for high school students in November.

YMCA National Judicial Competition

Hosts an annual mock trial and appellate competition for teens interested in government.
