The ABA’s Standing Committee on Pro Bono & Public Service has extensive experience conducting nationwide empirical research on attorneys about their pro bono experience and attitudes. The committee is sharing its survey model, offering its pro bono survey instrument free of charge, and Tennessee is one of the states that will be participating in this opportunity for statewide empirical research.

The ABA recently surveyed attorneys in Nebraska on their pro bono work. The survey was done to quantify the amount of pro bono work done and determine what factors encourage or discourage pro bono service. The ATJ Commission, in partnership with the Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services, is organizing Tennessee’s participation in this survey.

Watch for a link to the survey in your email in early 2017 — or use the link below — and take a few minutes to complete it. The survey opens in January and will be available through March at http://tinyurl.com/jls4dpp.

Responses will be anonymous and the information collected will help the ATJ Commission and its partners improve access to justice in Tennessee.
