The Federal Bureau of Investigation will hold a symposium in Knoxville this evening in an effort to recruit more women. Currently, only 20% of FBI agents nationwide are women. "The FBI is a family-friendly organization," said Sherri Onks, a 20-year veteran of the bureau. "You can have a good work-life balance. You can be a mom. You can be a special agent." The symposium will feature women serving as bomb technicians, evidence response team leaders and other roles in the FBI. Any woman with a bachelor's degree ages 23 to 36 can apply to be a special agent. The process includes a physical fitness test, background check and drug test. Learn more from WBIR.

The Tennessee Supreme Court is seeking an experienced and qualified person to lead the Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP). TLAP was established to provide assistance to Tennessee lawyers, judges, bar applicants and law students (the legal profession) who suffer from physical or mental disabilities that result from disease, disorder, trauma or age and that impair their ability to practice or serve. The Trial Court Vacancy Commission is accepting applications for a Chancery Court Judge in the 24th Judicial District, which covers Benton, Carroll, Decatur, Hardin and Henry Counties. This vacancy was created by the appointment and confirmation of Judge Carma Dennis McGee to the Court of Appeals, Western Section. Qualified applicants must be licensed attorneys who are at least 30 years of age, have been residents of the state for five years, and are residents of the 24th Judicial District. In a new survey of millennial lawyers, nearly half say their workloads have increased in recent years and about 1 in 4 say they would take less money in exchange for either a more flexible work schedule, more time off or a cut in billable hours, the ABA Journal reports. The survey of more than 1,200 lawyers in law firms was conducted in conjunction with Above the Law. It also found that more than 45% of female attorneys believe there is inherent sexism in the profession and 56% strongly agreed there is a gender pay gap.

This vacancy was created by the upcoming retirement of the Hon. David A. Patterson, who will end his service effective June 30. Qualified applicants must be licensed attorneys who are at least 30 years of age, have been residents of the state for five years, and are residents of the district. Application should be submitted to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon CDT on April 17. Each candidate must submit an original as well as a digital copy of his or her application.
