March 31, 2020

I am writing to give you an update on the status of the closure of the bar office building. In light of recent federal, state and local orders related to the current pandemic, the TBA’s office at 221 Fourth Avenue North in Nashville will remain closed until further notice. Please continue to look for new updates on orders, news and closures around the state in TBA Today as well as our web page dedicated to Pandemic Resources for Tennessee Lawyers.

We will continue to serve as a resource for our legal community during these challenging times and encourage you to let us know how we can provide even better service. Over the last few weeks, TBA has reached out to our courts and other state leaders on ways that we can address needs of lawyers in our state and the clients we serve. We were pleased that the Governor agreed with TBA’s public policy statement issued last week, declaring legal services as essential services.

Even though our offices are closed we are very busy planning programming related to remote working, the CARES Act, Families First Response Act, cybersecurity, among many other efforts currently in the works. Given the recent Order from the Tennessee Supreme Court allowing unlimited online CLE through 2020, now is a great time to take advantage of the three free hours of CLE offered with your TBA membership. More than 1,000 lawyers have already taken part in TBA online programs related to the pandemic.

Please also look out for an email this week on TBA’S health insurance plan and telehealth benefit for members, their staff and families.

All staff will continue their work virtually and will be available through their direct work numbers, email or through TBA’s main number (615) 383-7421 if you need assistance. Please take care and stay safe.
